YOUCAT for Kids
The catechism for children and parents
After many years, there is finally a reliable book of the Church,
in which everything is what children and parents (or teachers
and educators) must know to be a Christian believer.
You need to know what you believe. You need to know your faith with the same precision which an IT specialist knows the inner workings of a computer. You need to understand it like a good musician knows the piece he is playing. Yes, you need to be more deeply rooted in the faith than the generation of your parents so that you can engage the challenges and temptations of this time with strength and determinations.
POPE EM. BENEDICT XVI, in the YOUCAT foreword
When I invite you all now really to get to know the social doctrine of the Church, I am dreaming not just about groups that sit under trees and discuss it. That is good! Do that! My dream is of something greater: I wish I had a million young Christians or, even better, a whole generation who are for their contemporaries “walking, talking social doctrine”.
POPE FRANCIS, in the DOCAT foreword
So you have something divine in your hands: a book like fire! A book through which God speaks. So notice: The Bible is not meant to be placed on a shelf, but to be in your hands, to read often—every day, both on your own and together with others. You do sports together or go shopping together. Why not read the Bible together as well—two, three, or four of you? In nature, in the woods, on the beach, at night in the glow of a few candles … you will have a great experience!
